Philly ICO Volunteer Requirements

All Sierra Club Outings leaders are volunteers, however, many Philly ICO trips are supported by additional "volunteers" who do not fill a leadership role, but assist the Certified Leaders in running an outing.  A Philly ICO Volunteer:

  • Participates in Philly ICO outings in a limited role.

  • Need not be a Sierra Club member. However, only Sierra Club members are covered by Sierra Club's outing liability insurance.

  • Must complete an ICO Volunteer Application, read and sign the Sierra Club Outings Volunteer Agreement, and read and sign the ICO Code of Ethics

  • Must pass a Motor Vehicle Record check if an adult (18+) who is driving ICO participants. (No one under 18 can drive participants on an ICO outing.)

  • Must complete the Sierra Club background screen for working with children.
